Preservation

Automobiles are complex, technological objects that deteriorate over time. At Revs Institute, preservation keeps the cars safe in a stable display environment to minimize further damage or deterioration. The museum controls temperature, humidity, and light. Thanks to these efforts, future generations can understand the detailed history of the vehicles.

Conservation

At Revs Institute, conservation mitigates further deterioration by specialized care and treatment to ensure the car is safely stored, displayed, and operated without further risk of damage. It is better for the cars to be exercised on a regular basis than to let them sit, but this requires very careful maintenance by our team.

Restoration

Restoration is permanent change to a car. At Revs Institute, we are careful to not alter the historical integrity of an artifact. Cars severely damaged through use or neglect need restoration, but we never make it better than it was after original construction. The goal is to present a car as it looked and functioned as accurately as possible.
