“Bouledogues à la chaîne”
L’Auto held its first concours d’elegance for mascots in 1921; it was such a success, the publication ultimately staged four concours solely for mascots. The gold medal at the 1923 concours was awarded to “Chien à la chaîne,” by A. Dugès and Jouenne, edited by Guinier. The winning design was also produced in a version with three dogs, which you see here.
