“Bottes de Sept Lieues” (“Seven League Boots”)
Blondat worked in Paris during the transition from Art Nouveau to Art Deco. Many of his large-scale war memorials can be found across France. This playful representation of a European folk tale is incredible in its detail and possibly unique in its design. It bears the stamp of the Claude Valsuani foundry, which also cast sculptures for the likes of Renoir, Picasso, and Matisse. It is also stamped with CIRE PERDUE, testifying to the high quality of its manufacture.
