“Cheval” (“Horse”)

Jacques Cartier (not to be confused with the luxury goods executive of the same name) was an artist of the Animalier school. He began exhibiting his drawings in the Paris Salon at just 16 years of age. He worked in a variety of mediums during his long career, and several of his mascots are represented in the Zoler collection.
