“Cigogne” (“Stork”) for Automobiles Hispano-Suiza
One of the most famous marque-specific mascots, the Stork of Hispano-Suiza, was designed by French sculptor François Bazin. Bazin was attached to a squadron of fighter pilots during the First World War. He designed a black stork emblem that was painted onto the planes of his unit. After the war, Hispano-Suiza (who supplied the engines for the planes) asked Bazin to create their own stork mascot for their cars.
