“L’Informatrice” for L’Intransigeant
Designed by an unknown sculptor, this mascot was offered by daily newspaper L’Intransigeant as a numbered edition. It was based on “L’Informatrice,” an advertising poster created by A.M. Cassandre for the publication in 1925. Cassandre was one of the ‘Muskateers’ of French design, an informal group that elevated the poster into an art form. Writing in L’Intransigeant in 1929, filmmaker Jean Cocteau declared that the road was a new type of theater, comparing Cassandre to a set designer.
