“Prouesse” (“Prowess”)

Soudant was a respected sculptor. According to some accounts, the full-scale version of this design was exhibited at the 1907 Automobile Salon at Madison Square Garden, where it was seen by Franco-American coachbuilder Leon Rubay. Rubay was so taken with the design that he chose it as the mascot when he started his own marque. This edition was made at Susse Frères, which today is the oldest French art foundry still in existence.
